What it is
The HPT Chatbot is a healthcare provider training tool that simulates a patient disclosing cannabis use during a routine follow-up appointment. Providers practice responding with compassion, using evidence-based frameworks including Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed care, and neurodivergent-affirming approaches.
Who it's for
Physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who want to build skill and confidence for conversations about stigmatized topics, starting with medical cannabis disclosure.
How a session works
Each training session moves through four modes: Onboarding, Pre-Assessment, Simulation, and Reflection. The heart of the session is a seven-exchange simulated conversation with Jackie, with adaptive scoring (GREEN / YELLOW / RED) and personalized Stick and Leaf feedback grounded in the published literature. The goal: help providers move from anxious or directive responses toward partnership and safety.
